Para nuestro Colegio es un gran honor contar con el Maestro Alcides dentro de sus miembros y nos llena de orgullo acompañarle en este momento en que recibe L´Órdre du Canadá

Sobre la distinción

Order of Canada The Order of Canada is Canada’s highest civilian honour, with membership awarded to those who exemplify the Order’s Latin motto Desiderantes meliorem patriam, which means «(those) desiring a better country.» The Order was established to recognize the lifetime contributions made by Canadians who made a major difference to Canada. Musicians, politicians, artists, television and film stars, benefactors, and many more have been accepted into the Order. The Queen of Canada, Queen Elizabeth II, is Sovereign of the Order and the serving Governor General of Canada is its Chancellor and Principal Companion.

– “This honour is indeed richly deserved. alcides lanza is a pioneer in the field of electronic music whose activities as a composer, performer, pedagogue and concert presenter have had – and will continue to have – a lasting impact on the development of contemporary music at McGill University, in Canada and internationally.”

– Alcides Lanza richly deserves to become a Member of the Order of Canada. He has already been the recipient of several prestigious awards including a lifetime achievement award from the Organization of American States (1996) and the Tomas Luis de Victoria prize from Spain (2015). It is fitting that it is now Canada’s turn to recognize his achievements: his outstanding compositions, his tireless promotion of the music of the Americas, and his insightful teaching of generations of students. All of us who are privileged to know him — both students and colleagues alike — have come to appreciate his profound humanity, and his seemingly limitless contributions to the tapestry of Canada’s musical landscape.”

– I learned with great pleasure and joy yesterday of your being awarded the Order of Canada. Wow! This is totally deserving and a national recognition of your invaluable, generous and visionary contributions to so many of us in the new music community, our practices, our skills, our knowledge and our aesthetics.
