Composer, oboist and conductor, who completed violin studies with Maiques and Fabbri, oboe with Jean Louis Le Roux, conducting with Jean Martinon and composition with Enrique Casal Chapi in Montevideo; with Alberto Ginastera and other composers, in the Centro Latinoamericano de Altos Estudios Musicales del Instituto Torcuato Di Tella (Latin-American Center of Superior Musical Studies of Torcuato Di Tella Institute) in Buenos Aires (1969-70) and with Gyorgy Ligeti in the 1976 course of Darmstadt (Alemania).

Many of his works have been composed by commission and have deserved numerous prizes.

As an oboist-composer he often makes concert tours around Europe, America, Mid-East and all around Uruguay.

In July 1986, he recorded for the London BBC (Radio 3) his concert for oboe, with the Lontano Ensemble, conducted by Odaline de la Martínez. Also in London, with the Chamber Orchestra Ben Uri conducted by Sydney Fixman, he has released his last work “Yiskor por Terezín”, for oboe and strings.

León Biriotti has conducted in Brazil the orchestras: Bahía, Tauí (Sao Paulo), Belo Horizonte and Brasilia, as well as in Uruguay has conducted all the officials symphonic orchestras and numerous chamber groups.

Since 2000 is a Corporate Member of the Colegio de Compositores Latinoamericanos de Música de Arte (Collegium of Latin American Composers of Art Music).

His production as a composer includes: ten symphonies, Concert for violin and orchestra, Permutations for orchestra, Brandemburlesque Concert for piano and orchestra, etc.
